The Northeast Region CSI has a tradition of annually providing three or more scholarships to college students. The scholarships are funded by the proceeds of an auction held at the region conference. The auction was started in 1991 by the members and spouses showing off their skills and talents by submitting items for auction. Recipients are selected from submitted eligible students through a random drawing. The auction was formalized in Northeast Region policy in 1997.
As the conference and fundraising auction is unable to be held for this year, the board has authorized three scholarships of $600 each to be given out to eligible students submitted by chapter presidents. Candidates eligible for a scholarship must be: a current member of a chapter in CSI Northeast Region or their spouse, child, niece, nephew, grandchild, step-relative, in-law or sibling and be accepted at or enrolled in an institute of higher education.
To nominate a student for consideration, fill out the application form and submit through one of the fifteen chapters of the Northeast Region CSI by June 15, 2020. Chapter Presidents will each forward one candidate to the Region Executive Committee. Award recipients will be notified by July 1, 2020. Recipients will be required to provide proof of enrollment to the Region Treasurer to receive the funds.
