The restoration of historic buildings and their components requires careful planning, consideration and research in order to obtain both required and intended results. The presentation will review the steps, methods and thought processes used in such historic restorations and preservations. Examples of completed projects will be reviewed.

Speaker Bio:
Dr. Selwyn brings an extensive scientific background to projects involving the preservation and conservation of historic structures. Her projects include more than 1000 masonry conservation, historic roof repair, existing condition survey, historic structure reports and paint analysis projects, as well as special studies for the conservation of historic building fabric including wood restoration, historic windows, stained glass, metals, tile and terrazzo. Dr. Selwyn has received Boston Preservation Alliance’s Lifetime Achievement Award, 25th Anniversary award from the Massachusetts Historical Commission and the Tsongas Profiles in Preservation Awards from Preservation Massachusetts.
