To all CSI Members in our Region,
The summer is now upon us, and within the world of CSI we of course have the pending new fiscal year coming in July, for our Region and all it’s chapters. That said, it is a time of transition- new officers and new Board members, and the like. And with the Region it is no different.
I want to congratulate the new and continuing officers of the CSI-Northeast Region as they begin our new fiscal year on July 1:
- President Frank Mruk
- Vice President Oliver Wilhelm
- Treasurer Roger Hoyt (remaining)
- Secretary Barton Ross
We also want to thank the outgoing Region Secretary, Jonathan Miller. Jonathan has just retired, got married, and will be moving to France in the near future. A trifecta! Good luck!
Very soon my term as Region President will come to an end, and I wanted to just mention a few things in closing:
- There’s a lot of good people that regularly volunteer and participate at CSI. Sometimes our meeting agendas and even our technical topics can be a bit dry, but overall I think we try to mix it up and keep it pretty fun and interesting.
- As I always have said, I enjoy the cross-section of professions and titles that are part of CSI. That has helped me in a myriad of ways, professionally. As a contractor I am sometimes “at odds” with the architecture or engineering community- and CSI gives me a means of engaging with those design professionals in a different and more collaborative and cordial setting.
- At the Board and leadership level we do often speak about the negative headwinds that the organization faces, but there is plenty of optimism to consider as well. The key is- how do we build upon that? People need some optimism to want to strive to reach goals for next month or next year.
It has been an honor to help lead the Region of the Construction Specifications Institute over the past couple years. That said, I am not disappearing entirely- you likely will see me at some Board meeting or other CSI event in the future.
Finally, I leave you with a picture from our Region Conference which took place in Plymouth, MA last month. Our next president Frank is the second from the left.
