YES. YOU. CAN. Design for Sustainability, Energy Efficiency AND Carbon Footprint Reduction with Metal Roof and Wall Systems – Housatonic Chapter
We are resuming our education program schedule for the Chapter’s new fiscal year with Lori Reynolds Morrow of Sheffield Metals. She will be presenting an AIA HSW credited program titled “YES. YOU. CAN. Design for Sustainability, Energy Efficiency AND Carbon Footprint Reduction with Metal Roof and Wall Systems.”
Prerequisite Knowledge: A history of designing for the building’s exterior envelope to be that of a standing seam metal roof and/or a metal wall panel system. Additionally, a familiarity with the concept of portable roll forming, produced from either a fixed or an on-site location.
Learning Objectives:
Sustainability: Describe how designing for a building’s exterior cladding with metal affirms the project’s commitment towards sustainability due to metals’ durability, longevity, as witnessed in Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), and the use of environmentally responsible materials as reported in an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and lastly the unquestionable recyclability of metal.
Energy Efficiency: Recognize how the metal supplied for metal panel systems is painted with a resin-based coating which includes solar reflective pigments that reduce the heat gain/energy load on a building, which reduces cooling costs, thereby increasing the building’s energy efficiency.
Carbon Footprint Reduction: Explain how the production strategy of on-site fabrication of metal panels definitively contributes towards the reduction of a project’s carbon footprint.
Sustainable Production of Steel and Aluminum: Define where the US stands as compared to global competition on the sustainable production of the substrate base metals, those being steel and aluminum.
The program will be in the May venue, the Amici Café, 1640 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT.
Cost for dinner and program is $40 (cash or check please).
Social ½ hour/networking and tabletop display will be from 6:00 to 6:30. Program will start approximately at 6:30.
Please make your reservations with me at rolsen@jcj.com or 860-240-9335.
