Construction Law – Best Practices and Risk Management

This continuing education course is designed for those in the design and construction industry. The session will provide crucial insights into managing legal risks throughout the construction process. Topics covered will include insurance coverage, additional insureds, indemnification, contribution, joint liability, workers’ compensation and related immunity, and what happens if there’s a claim. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how to respond to claims to safeguard their businesses. Through practical guidance and real-world examples, attendees will learn strategies to minimize risk and avoid costly legal disputes. The course will also feature plenty of time for questions, allowing participants to engage directly with the presenter and seek advice tailored to their specific concerns and experiences.

Liz Germani is a trial lawyer, mediator and arbitrator who works with Drummond Woodsum, and has spent decades handling construction claims. She is licensed to practice law in Maine and New Hampshire, and has worked with hundreds of tradespeople and professionals in the construction industry. She is also the daughter of a contractor and construction manager and has been on job sites since she was 4 years old. She carries PPE in the trunk of her car at all times.
